LOVE TV WEDNESDAY (WEEK 76)

LOVE TV WEDNESDAY (WEEK 76)

Jeremy Clarkson, 'Hamster' and 'Captain Slow' are joining 'Netflix' and putting two-fingers up to the BBC! You heard it here first! It was announced recently that after a 13 year break, ‘The X Files’ will return for six new episodes – again with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson starring. ‘The Billion Dollar Chicken Shop,' (BBC1) follows various employees of KFC and is definitely worth a watch, although you might want to put your bargain bucket away when they show footage from the chicken farms! Our favourite drama this week is ITV1’s new Sunday night series ‘Poldark,' with stunning views of the English coast and (arguably just as stunning) performances from Aidan Turner as war veteran Captain Ross Poldark. If, however, box-sets are more your thing, we highly recommend the latest season four of ‘Suits,’ which follows a group of American lawyers. Intense legal battles? Check. Amazing hair from every cast member? Check. Sharp suits? Well, of course!

MONDAY EBOOK CLUB (WEEK 76)

MONDAY EBOOK CLUB (WEEK 76)

It has been announced that Nelson Mandela’s second autobiography will be published next year. According to his widow, Graca Machel, Mandela started the sequel in 1998, and the completed piece will be based on a handwritten draft and completed by Mandela’s advisors. Now, if you thought the Oscars were the pinnacle of the glamorous awards season, you were very much mistaken because it’s award season in the book world, and there’s plenty of hype about who could win the biggest prizes. No prizes for guessing the biggest news story of this week. No, not Jeremy Clarkson, but none other than King Richard III being found and then re-buried in Leicester. This fascinating story of how historical fact meets historical fantasy is told in our Book of the Week, ‘The King’s Grave - The Search for Richard III,’ the official inside story of the life, death and remarkable discovery of history's most controversial monarch.

MUSIC WEEKLY ROUND UP (WEEK 75)

MUSIC WEEKLY ROUND UP (WEEK 75)

Which direction is the world’s biggest band taking? We asked the question, earlier in March, was Zayn Malik trying to leave the band after leaving the stage during a gig? We now have the answer - yes! Ed Sheeran has revealed that he has launched his own record label, through Warner, called Gingerbread. The Official Chart Show on Radio 1 will be moved, in July, to Friday from its present Sunday evening slot. In this week’s album chart, Sam Smith has been knocked off the number one spot by rapper Kendrick Lamar with ‘To Pimp a Butterfly.’
